It's finally that time. My first ever mid-semester break, a necessary break to attempt to catch up, before the end of semester. My to-do list hasn't diminished or shortened as I have thus far spent my break doing NOTHING school related... ooopppps. Apparently, motivation is at an ultimate low. On a positive note - running motivation has miraculously appeared. You win some, you lose some...
So what have I been up to since my birthday...
I have managed to squeeze running back into my schedule as well as baking [because somehow I have to counteract running]!!! With the help of my new cupcake cookbook I decided to choose a recipe with two of my favourite things - white chocolate and cinnamon. The white chocolate cinnamon cupcakes were super sweet but delightfully tasty.

Saturday was Riverfire. It is the final event of the Brisbane Festival. The fighter jets put on a show in the arvo [afternoon] then just after sunset the worlds most spectacular fireworks went off! As many of you know I am a sucker for fireworks. Brisbane did a spectacular show and it was beyond worth the ferry ride fiasco! I was able to spend the evening with a fellow Canadian Speechie and we watched the show right beside Story Bridge. The view was amazing! Next year [how crazy is it that I get to say this], I would love to watch the fireworks from Eagle Street Pier OR on a private yacht - you know whatever works [a girl can dream]!!! Either way, it's exciting to have things to look forward to. In my short time here, I have been amazed at how fantastic Brisbane is at events and festivals! Enjoy the photos, they don't do the show justice!
During this week I have also managed to fit in an injury. Yesterday evening I was feeling antsy. I decided I was going to attempt running around the river again - don't worry mom I took my phone and go card this time!!! It was all going great until I decided to not lift my feet and tripped. I ended up face to face with asphalt. I scraped up my knee pretty bad, sadly putting holes in my new lulu tights, and twisting the middle finger of my right hand the wrong way. Either way, I didn't have time to pout about it as I had 9 minutes to make it to the ferry or I was going to be sitting at the terminal for half an hour. I made the ferry with blood dripping down my leg, holes in my tights and sweat pouring down my face - those poor ferry ladies. |
Oh AND I managed to destroy my iPhone screen to the maximum. Adding an iPhone screen repair to this weeks to-do list. This evening I decided to attempt a run even though my knee is swollen and sore. Surprisingly, it went alright.
Tomorrow is going to be alllllllll about my speech essay and poster. Well that and the 30 degree weather we are suppose to be reaching :) Just for interest sake, here is a look at this weeks weather forecast :P
