It's 10:30pm on Sunday night and I have just returned from my last dinner party this yea in Australia. What a bittersweet feeling. Reflecting on my time here in Australia I am certainly proud for stepping outside the box and discovering myself and creating a "new life" away from Canada. It's no secret that I appreciate my new friends, whom of most are now like family, and am ever so grateful to have met everyone. The past few months have been both exciting and challenging that being said I am very ready for some family time and the comforts of home during this holiday season. Next year already has so many reasons to be grateful and that is a blessing in and of itself.
Today itself was challenging. I woke up to a message from my mom, my Grandma had passed away. It's not that grandma and I saw eye to eye on everything but in the end, she was always there for me. This is something I will forever be grateful for. Grandma was only a phone call or visit away. Through all her struggles and difficulties she still had lots of reasons to smile and one of the fondest memories I have is of life at the lake. Hanging out at the cabin for two weeks is still one of my fondest childhood memories. It was always so relaxed and never failed to create memorable moments. Grandma, I hope you find a place in heaven just like the lake. May you find the peace you deserve.
Below are images of the past two weeks and all the fun I have had during my "freedom days" during which I spent just over 40 hours without power. Regardless, it has been a nice life doing "nothing".

- our flat is officially very clean as we did our spring cleaning this summer
- my tummy has been very full of wonderful dinners and amazing desserts
- my love for wine has only increased (and maybe so has my tolerance)
- my exam results were released and I was both happy and proud of myself for achieving above average marks
- I got to get out, explore and enjoy Brisbane a little more!
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, I GOT TO SEE THE MILKY WAY!! It was absolutely incredible! The pictures do NOT do justice
Overall, my last few weeks in Australia have been more than I expected. I feel much less stressed and more confident than ever that things will always work out. Although living half way across the world has been much more difficult than I expected, I have made a family of friends over here whom I am very sad to be leaving this holiday season. I hope that everyone spends this Christmas with the ones they love and that the New Year brings joy and happiness to all.
