I landed back in Bris at 11pm on March 2nd and Uni started the following morning at 9am. I had officially dragged my vacation out for as long as possible! It was time to go back to reality and the entirety of my move to Australia. At this point, I was looking forward to the exciting courses for the semester ahead:
Anywho, while I was getting back into the student life groove, Michelle was approaching the mid-semester stage and had decided to not continue uni in Australia. She would then be leaving Australia less than a week later. Therefore, an unexpected last minute trip to Sydney was planned for a final girls weekend. Of course, Cheri was in Sydney and she joined us for the weekend. We arrived late on Friday night, checked into our accommodations and hit the hay. The next morning was an early rise in order to get the most of Sydney in! After a little bit of shopping, the first stop was the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Three years ago, I (surprisingly) never completed the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. It was perfect weather, the tour was more educational that I anticipated and of course, the view did not disappoint.

We then made our way to the ever-iconic Australian symbol, the Sydney Opera House. On a whim we decided to check out the box office. Club Swizzle, the latest innovative theatre performance was showing that evening. Tickets were a steal of a deal at $30 dollars so how could we say no to the opportunity to watch a performance at the Opera House! The Studio was turned into a full-swinging prohibition style underground bar that seemed casual and laid back. Then suddenly, the show begins and it all turns into a vaudevillian circus with humour, acrobatics, gymnastics, contortionist, tap-dancing, and singing performances. I left completely aghast at the artistry and skill of each performer. It would be fair to say that the Swizzle did indeed sizzle.
On Sunday morning we travelled to Bondi Beach. We met up with Ashley and a few of her fellow Occupational Therapy friends and enjoyed the beach before deciding to check out The Stuffed Beaver Canadian Bar! It felt like home as each of us enjoyed a Caesars and poutine! Then later that evening we journeyed to Darling Harbour. The Darling Harbour dining precinct is beautifully designed and to this day remains one of my favourite places in Australia. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner together celebrated our weekend away. Monday morning seemed to arrive all too quickly. We checked out, headed back into the CBD, put our luggage in storage and explored for the last hour before heading our separate ways. Cheri was off to Victoria and Michelle and I to the airport. I ensured Michelle made it to the international terminal and we exchanged farewells before I headed off to the domestic terminal Brisbane bound.
Now, that was it! No more travel! Uni would soon be full on (more than I ever could have imagined) and it was time to get down to business and be a diligent student... until Easter break of course ;)
