Do we all remember that exhaustive list I created on the last blog post?
Well let's see how well I've done 4 days in:
Well let's see how well I've done 4 days in:
- √ going to the grocery store and having more than 15 minutes to gather all possible food supplies for a week
- √ entering the shopping mall and being able to browse and look for AS LONG AS I WANT
- √ waking up and deciding to do WHATEVER I want to do that day
- reading a book BY CHOICE
- √ hitting the beach
- √ swimming in the ocean
- yoga more than once a week
- √ RUNNING and exploring new paths because WHO CARES if I get lost
- cooking the long list of meals I have pinned on pinterest
- √ ice cream dates because it is SUMMER and the weather is HOT HOT HOT
- exploring more of Brisbane (this deserves its own additional list):
Quick Recaps
Day 1: Saturday morning I woke up at 7:30am -- this is considered sleeping in!!! How insane. Anywho, Day 1 consisted of a few of my favourite things... baking - the delicious cinnamon and sugar dusted coconut vanilla muffins - and running. It was also followed by a quick trip to the Mount Coot Tha lookout as a last goodbye to J. I look forward to visiting her in "rural" Victoria for Australia day! It will be a weird few months without her around here!

- kayaking the river
- stand up paddle-boarding
- kangaroo point rock climbing and repelling
- renting bikes and exploring
- walking the river boardwalk (it just re-opened from the floods)
- checking out the botanic gardens
- saturday morning brunch followed by the West End farmers market for fresh fruit and veggies

Day 2: Sunday morning, was a slow start and felt like a 'pancakes for lunch' kind of day. Next I took a long, beautiful river run! A much needed (slow but completed) therapeutic run. This was followed by the earliest bedtime since the day I arrived!!! I think the exhaustion caught up to me.
Day 3: A spontaneous trip to North Stradbroke Island. A official "must-see" for all visiting Australia. With the most stunning view points and beautiful beaches it was the worlds most relaxing day trip! K & I drove to the ferry terminal, caught the water taxi across, rode the bus to point lookout and spent the day beach in' it! While there we managed to see both wild dolphins and kangaroos!! It was so hot that day and we could hardly go thirty minutes without needing to run into the ice cold ocean water. Of course, the day also included homemade ice-cream (two well deserved scoops) and fresh fish for dinner!
Day 4: Involved a road trip to the Gold Coast. We hit up Burleigh Heads beach for the day and enjoyed the views while relaxing. This time the wildlife consisted of dead jelly fish washed up along the shore from the tide. Again, some ice cream was necessary due to the excessive heat this country receives. I am officially burnt from my two days of 'fun in the sun' but, I will continue to lather in aloe vera in hopes of trading that burn for a tan. Until then, check OUT THAT VIEW.
Let the FREEDOM days continue! Stay tuned!
